Being a recruiter and knowing what expectations are for hiring managers and such. But there was nothing wrong with that question, geez, loosen up a little.

Re: I blew the interview and I’m happy I did!

People were DYNAMIC before applications..LOL! I completely agree with your thoughts, and quite frankly refuse to work with someone who has no sense of humor. I have never met a great developer without a spine or intestinal fortitude. "I just refuse to accept the idea that work is “work” and it can’t or shouldn’t be fun. That’s wrong! " I couldn't have said it any better. My suggestion to candidates is to focus on what you love and write it down. I dig that you know what you want as most people are foggy in that area.

Re: The Inmates are Running the Asylum

We had this experience with Sony's new ebook reader. What a colossal piece of crap. It's as if they built it from scratch. There's all of this OS system software out there and, rather than instantiating a simple version of the much more complex ensemble that comes with PCs, they wrote everything from scratch... and it totally sucked. 25 years of OS evolution and these idiots chose not to capitalize on all of the years of pre-existing experience. SO... we took it back and didn't buy an ebook reader as replacement at all. That's how disgusted we were. It flushed us right out of the market.

The most basic requirement for an ebook reader these days is the ability to search across multiple books at the same time, then make a custom bookmark or file with all of the refs that apply, and then save it for future remembrance. To date no product can do this yet. And it aint that complicated. When we found out that Sony's was so primitive that it would take ten years to get something like this, it was such a turnoff that we walked away from the entire market space.

Someone should tell these guys that they're selling crap so that they can evolve accordingly and rapidly. Otherwise - no point in even making a product like this when PCs are already converging on it in short order. Just my opinion.

Re: Bad customer experience at an Apple store

Yes, I did ask her and she gave me the most typical and basic answer: store policy! Which to me sounds like a bunch of BS. I would of rather if she told me that they were all very busy (which they were not) and that she'd be happy to take my contact info and do a store check for me when they were less busy and then giving me a call back. Oh well... I'm still happy with my MacBook! :)

Thanks for the comment and for reading! :)

The story leaves an unanswered question—did you ask the employee, "How come?" I'd be interested in hearing what happened after she told you "No."

Re: Organizing iPhone apps via iTunes

Amen, Can someone get this done ASAP!
